Class of “2007”
Dear Grade 5 Families, We want to update and remind you about some important dates for our fifth graders and families. Grade 5 Junior Olympics: As you know, the date of the junior Olympics was postponed until this Wednesday, June 13 because of weather conditions. This was the only day all schools could do, so let’s hope for nice weather. Based on the information we received from Mrs. D’Orsi, the opening ceremony usually begins at 9:30 a.m. and students should finish up by 12:30. All families are encouraged to come to the field to cheer on our school! The PTO/parent group is responsible for supplying water, orange slices, and watermelon slices for our students (92). Wild Oats has donated the water and watermelon and a few parents volunteered to buy the oranges. We should be all set with refreshments. See you Wednesday. Moving on Celebration: The Moving on Celebration is Friday, June 15. We would like to have students at the school by 6:00p.m. Please use the entrance at the rear of the school by the cafetorium. Students will be checked in and wait as a group in the corridor by kindergarten classes, while parents/guardians and siblings wait in the cafetorium for the ceremony. This way the students can walk in as the “2007” class. The ceremony will begin at 6:15 and shouldn’t go beyond 7:00. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the students will remain at school for a “student only” dinner and party in the gym. Please make sure we have your contact information with the name of the person responsible for picking up your child and telephone numbers to reach them. Students should be picked up at 9:30. Please come in the school to get them. We cannot have them exit the school without the appropriate “pick up” person. Volunteers for Moving on Night: A separate note will be sent to people who volunteered to help set-up the gym and cafetorium, during the event, or with clean up. If you didn’t indicate that you could help and want to help with anything, please feel free to. We will start putting up the decorations at 2:30 on Friday. Your 5th grader is welcome to stay with you to help if they want! It may be fun for them. Please contact us if you have any questions. We hope the students have a fun night – it is all about them!
