Coordinator News

Dear Parents/Guardians of Mr. Allen's class,
Three of us have volunteered to be your classroom coordinators this  
year.
We would like to introduce ourselves:

We met with Mr. Allen last
week to talk about his plans for the year, and about possible help  
which we can offer.
Mr. Allen indicated that, as the year gets started, there are few  
immediate needs.  

We do expect that as the school year progresses,  
and field trips and projects are planned -  you will hear more from  
us!  Of course, there will be a lot of planning and help needed with  
the end-of-year graduation as well.

In the meantime, please feel email or speak with any of us in  
the schoolyard if you have any questions, concerns, or special  
talents that can be shared with the children.

We are looking forward to a great year together!

It’s JUNE!  Time to make our 5^th grade end-of-year party plans!

As you may know, we are planning TWO parties to celebrate the end of the school year, and the end of our time at the Brooks School.  Here’s what we know so far:

PARTY # 1:

PARTY AT THE TODISCO’S HOUSE!!!

TO BE HELD ON THE AFTERNOON OF OUR LAST DAY AT SCHOOL – THURSDAY, JUNE 19^TH FROM IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCHOOL (RELEASE TIME: 12:00 NOON) TO 5:00 PM.

We would like for ALL students of Mr. Allen’s class to attend!

Siblings are welcome.  (For safety sake, parents/guardians who are unable to attend will need to make arrangements with another adult to have their child and sibs minded at the pool.) 

For the youngest of the siblings – Callie’s mom, Stephanie Todhunter has offered to have a sprinkler party in her backyard during the pool party!  Depending on requests, some “big kids” can be hired to help mind the little ones at her home.  (If Stephanie’s generous offer interests you, please call her at (781 )648-1466 so that arrangements can be made.)

Rides to and from the pool party can be arranged.  If your child will need a ride, or if you have space in your car, please let us know (instructions below).

Food and Refreshments will be served at poolside.  We are asking that all families help!  We thought pizza, chips, water, juices, popsicles, watermelon, and maybe even a cake would be cool.  We’ll also need coolers, ice, paper plates, cups, and forks and spoons.  How about a boom box?!

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Call Daria’s mom, BECCA ESHELMAN AT (781) 488-3352.

1)  Let her know that your child can join us, and if they will need a ride, or if you can offer a ride to another classmate.

2)  Let her know what you’d like to bring to help with lunch, snacks, refreshments.  She’ll keep the list of what is needed and would be happy to accept your ideas.

PARTY #2:

BEACH PARTY AT THE GALLUP MARSHFIELD HOUSE!!!

TO BE HELD ON THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION – FRIDAY, JUNE 20^TH FROM

10:00 AM UNTIL 4:00 PM AT THE GALLUP’S HOUSE ALONG BEAUTIFUL REXHAME BEACH IN MARSHFIELD.  Plan to bring your family!  Details and directions will be delivered soon.

We are really excited about spending some fun time together!  Please let us know if you have questions or ideas.  Enjoy the last few weeks of 5^th grade!!!

Dates for your calendar:

G5 Car Wash:  Wednesday, April 30

*Tentative Junior Olympics:  Monday, June 2 (rain date June 3)  *Mrs. D'Orsi to confirm.  It is usually the first week, if not, it would be the next (June 9).

Moving on Night:  Friday, June 13

Hi all,
As Mr. Allen mentioned on this week's web posting, parent/teacher  
conferences are
forthcoming!

Mr. Allen has asked that I have you contact me to set up a time to  
meet with him (my contact
info below).  We are reserving half-hour time slots for you to meet  
with Mr. Allen on
Wednesday (12/5), Thursday (12/6), Friday (12/7), Monday (12/10) and  
Tuesday (12/11).

Mr. Allen has set up late appointments (until 7:30pm) on Wednesday in  
an effort to
accommodate evening requests.

A confirmation letter of your requested time will be sent home via  
backpack express.

In consideration of all families, we will ask that all half hour time  
slots be honored for that
period of time.  One late running conference will effect all those to  
follow!
